About Us

Outhunt Hounds is a younger sister of the very experienced and well known Haughmill Kennels.

Although ran and owned in partnership with my Mother Carolyne, it is very much my own little baby.

MY HISTORY

I was born into a family who had the extreme good fortune of having over 100 years of dog experience. From my Great, Great, Great Grandfathers on both sides right down to my Mother and Father.

I was born in 1985 and my first real memories of the dogs was sitting in a whelping box helping my Mother with the birthing process as young as 3 years old. I was very lucky that my Mother insisted I was involved from a very young age with all aspects of the dogs, from cleaning the
kennels, feeding, whelping, mating and the really enjoyable part of showing them.

I handled dogs as soon as I could walk, but it was not until I was six that I could officially handle in a 'proper' show! Even though we had many dogs around, I was not given my very own dog until 1992 when I was either 6 or 7. He was a super wee broken tri-colour Beagle and I named him Mickey.
I had such fun with him and we did very well in competing at Junior Handling.
I qualified for the Junior Handling Finals held down at Richmond Championship shows on many, many occasions and did not do too shabbily either.

Time has passed and I am married now with two wonderful little boys and another on the way, due in July 2010.
My dream is to pass our extensive family history and heritage in dogs down to my children where they will carry on the family traditon
for years to come.

This is the main reason why I felt it was time to acquire my own Affix, albeit in partnership with my Mother.
The name came from many many suggestions but I knew I wanted a 'houndy' sounding name as it is only the two breeds which I will ever keep.
My dream is to eventually have as big a name if not bigger than my Mother and Fathers kennel, Haughmill.......basically to 'outdo' them in friendly competition. So Outhunt Hounds was born.

Currently we have a few Beagles running around and are due our first litter under the Outhunt affix in April 2010. We are very excited about this as it goes back to some of my Mother and Fathers' original Beagles.

Later on in 2010, Outhunt will be proudly entering the show ring with a Foxhound bred by Haughmill. I am sure we will have great fun with him.
Hopefully we will qualify for Crufts 2011.
