We have been waiting on this particular litters arrival for over two years.
What rejoicing we did when the babies finally appeared.
Georgie sailed through everything and delivered in her own inimitable style........sleeping through the whole procedure and only waking to see the new arrival and to give a quick check over, then back to sleep!

Her attitude is almost
"Well you wanted them -
YOU can do the work!"
The word 'effort' is NOT in Georgies' vocabulary.
First born bitch - 24 oz!!!!
Just checking!
Wake me when it's over!!
The first few weeks have flown by and they are growing very quickly.
Their own characteristics and personalities are showing and the 'leaders' are starting to make their mark on the litter.
Plenty mini growling, grumbles and the cutest of barks are evident when they are playing together.
Are you biting your toenails? Ewww!!!
My first portrait!!
It's official - You need some Tic Tac's!!!
Can we play now?
Come on then - it's our chance to play!!!!
Even at this early stage it has become quite clear that 'Ged' takes life a little more seriously than his sister 'Toni'.
She is the first to offer up playtime and will always be found
in the midst of a mini melee!
'Ged' on the other hand is a 'thinker' - although Alasdair reckons he takes after his father 'Clyde' and is really a 'sulker'!!
You haven't just.....Oh you have? Ewwwww!
Keep watching to see regular updates of their progress and photographs of them growing into what we hope to be,
two beautiful examples of a
Haughmill German Shepherd Dog.
Getting 7 out of the 9 to sit still long was good enough for me!!!
THIS is getting RIDICULOUS !!!
Just testing the temperature!
First bowl of milk and loving it!
There comes a point when one just knows instinctively that it is time to start to wean puppies
of their Mother.
For some it is earlier
than others, but again one knows when.
For this litter it was at two and half weeks old.
Just by the way Georgie was having
to feed them gave a rather large indication
they were ready to wean.
As suspected they
took to it with
no problems at all.
The only thing we had
to stop them from
doing was going for a
swim in the milk - another
lot of Haughmill Water Babies!

Settling into the new accommodation
Hey there Cutie!
"I did it Myyyyyy Wayyyyyy!"
Mel trying out her new pose!
I must say that this litter has to be one of the easiest we have ever had here at Haughmill.
The puppies are so confident, happy, contented and have taken to weaning with gusto.
We can't wait to watch grow up into well adjusted
adults who will have so much to give to their new
Mums & Dads.
We always pick our 'keepers' from birth and so far we have been fairly accurate with our selections.
This litter has been no different, with the dog and bitch puppy standing out from the moment they were born.
Georgie will carry on allowing them to suckle from her a few weeks more but they will be getting their main feeding from us.
This a very important stage in a youngster life, plenty
of good quality milk, as much as they can take.
It helps build up good strong bones, teeth and conditions the coat.
This litter has grown up very fast.
They take everything in their stride and are extremely laid back with their attitude to anything unusual or new.
This we firmly believe comes from Georgies calming character which she portrays as confident and gentle.
The puppies are now out in one of our purpose built puppy kennels, which allows them to experience even more exciting things.
The puppies individual characters start showing at around
the 4th week.
This is a most interesting time as one can see how they interact with each other and with us.
They are playing, exploring and generally starting to get
up to all sorts of mischief.
All part of the learning curve which will take them onto to being well adjusted and confident adults.
I'm still hungry !!
Take that camera out of our faces and let us sleep !!

Sam having a wee think!
Well it's better than lying on the ground!
Toni being all cutsie - and it's working
Cheer up, Kwik!
It's Ok Ged, you can come out!
It's always a big adventure when the hatch to the puppy run is opened.
The puppies all make a mad dash to see what the big fuss is all about and when they realise it's nothing special they settle down to exploring their new surroundings.
They will also experience new sights and sounds with the other dogs, the cats and the ducks. This is essential in the proper development of any puppy.

I must say that in all my years of breeding GSDs, I have never come across such a photogenic litter.
With most litters one will have a couple of puppies who stand out but with this lot, EVERY puppy just LOVES the camera and the camera just LOVES them back.
I will definitely miss all the wonderful photo opportunities when they go of to their new homes with their Mums & Dads.
